The national and statewide average cost of a gallon of gas continues to rise.
The national average cost of a gallon of gas according to Triple A is $3.48 a gallon as of this morning. That marks a five cent increase over the last week, and eighteen cents over the last month. Last year at this time, gas prices were $2.50. The national average is continuing to go higher thanks to crude oil prices continuing to go up. The cost of crude oil went up by 22 cents over the last week to $89.88. The reason for the increase is because of the ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine. Also, demand for gasoline has increased. Total domestic gas stocks went down by 1.6 million barrels, but demand increased to 9.13 million barrels a day.
Pennsylvania’s average has followed suit, going up to $3.67 a gallon as of this morning. That marks a seven cent increase over last week, and a fifteen cent increase over last month.
