The Steelers’ TJ Watt last night was named the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, grabbing 42 of the 48 votes to outpace Cowboys rookie Micah Parsons and the Rams’ Aaron Donald. He’s the seventh Steeler to win the award. Watt’s brother, three-time Defensive Player of the year JJ Watt, presented it along with singer Katy Perry.
In accepting the award, Watt expressed his gratitude to his family and his fiancée, and his Steelers family too.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers won his fourth NFL MVP award. The Rams’ Cooper Cupp was named Offensive Player of the Year, and Tennessee’s Mike Vrabel is the Coach of the year.
NFL Honors Night in Los Angeles also included the announcement of this year’s Hall of Fame Class. Offensive tackle Tony Boselli, defensive end Richard Seymour, safety LeRoy Butler, linebacker Sam Mills, and defensive end Bryant Young, will go in along with wide receiver Cliff Branch, coach Dick Vermeil, and Art McNally, who is the first former official to be selected to the Hall of Fame.
