After enjoying a week off, the Penguins return to action tonight on U92, as they take on the Boston Bruins on the road.
The Pens will be without center Evgeni Malkin, who has been placed in covid protocol after testing positive. Coach Mike Sullivan says Malkin is symptomatic.
Sullivan says the Penguins are disappointed because Malkin’s game has been coming together after his return from knee surgery, and he needs the work. But, he says, they are used to playing without him, and it’s a chance for someone else to step up.
Evan Rodrigues will move from wing to center on the third line and Jeff Carter will center the second line in Malkin’s absence tonight. Sullivan said forward Danton Heinen will be a game-time decision tonight after missing the last two games with an upper body injury suffered in warmups before the Detroit game on January 28th.
Drew O’Connor remains out recovering from a reported collapsed lung, but is skating again.
It’s a 6:00 airtime tonight on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel.
