Not only were people concerned with slick roads yesterday, people were concerned with flooded roads as well.
Four roads in the Indiana County area were flooded by the rainfall and snow melt Thursday night and into Friday morning. As of this morning, there is one road that still has flooding reported. That road is State Route 56 in the Shelocta area between Union Flat Road and Overview Drive/Sportsman Club Road. At last check, there was a lane restriction in place.
PennDOT advises people that if they want to check the latest road conditions, they can do so by logging on to 511pa.com or using the 511 PA app. People are also reminded that if you see a flooded roadway, turn around and go the opposite direction. It takes only two feet of fast moving water to float a car. Also, if anyone drives around any barriers set up to close a road, the driver could face increased fines if emergency responders are called in.
