UPDATE: State police have confirmed there were some minor injuries in the school bus crash this morning in Northeast Indiana County.
Public Information Officer Trooper Cliff Greenfield said that the bus was travelling south on Churchill Road at 7:18 AM when it failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The bus slid off the East side of the road and overturned onto the driver’s side.
While minor injuries were reported, no one needed to be taken to the hospital. Icy road conditions are being blamed for the crash.
Commodore fire department assisted state police on-scene this morning. State Police are also working with the Purchase Line School District to get more details on the crash.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
A School bus with students on board crashed this morning in Northwestern Indiana County.
Commodore fire department and Citizens Ambulance were initially dispatched to a vehicle accident on Church Hill Road near the intersection with Hemlock Road. Further reports confirmed that the vehicle involved was a school bus from Tri-County Transportation that was carrying high-school age students.
Reports say that the road in that area is very slick right now. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the scene of the crash right now. There are no confirmed reports of any injuries or how the crash happened. We have reached out to the Commodore Fire Department, Tri-County Transportation and Purchase Line School District for more information. As soon as we get that information, we will pass it along to you.
