Steelers legend Rocky Bleier will be paying a visit to the Johnstown area as part of a fundraiser for the Veterans Committee of the Cambria County War Memorial.
Bleier will host a fundraising dinner and reception at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown on February 18th, and he will drop the puck and meet fans at the Johnstown Tomahawks game following the dinner. Money raised by his appearance will support the initiatives of the Veterans Committee, including the Veterans Museum inside First Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial and the Veterans Park outside the arena. Bleier famously interrupted his career to serve in the Army in the Vietnam war, and was wounded in action and lost part of his right foot when his platoon was ambushed in a rice paddy.
After his discharge, Bleier worked hard to come back and play for the Steelers in the 1970s, becoming a four-time Super Bowl champion.
To reserve a table of eight, it will cost $1500, but there will be several single seats available for $150 each. The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on the 18th. Tickets are available through the Johnstown Tomahawks at 814-536-4625.
