An Indiana man who pleaded guilty to child molestation charges was sentenced yesterday in Indiana County Court.
District Attorney Robert Manzi announced in a news release that 43-year-old Eric Schrack was ordered to serve between 10 and 20 years in state prison for guilty pleas to charges of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, and indecent assault of a person under the age of 13. As part of his punishment, Schrack must register as a Meghan’s Law offender for the rest of his life. The victim reported the abuse to state police back in February of 2020, saying that Schrack abused him in 2004. During a phone call with State Trooper Phil Dern, Schrack admitted his guilt and apologized for his actions. Schrack was taken into custody shortly after that.
In his statement, Manzi said that what Schrack did was horrific, and that he would like to see him serve the complete maximum sentence. Manzi also applauded the courage and strength of the victim and the victm’s support team, and the diligent work by the state police and Trooper Dern.
Manzi also reminds everyone that abuse victims can call the state police or their local law enforcement agency to get help at any time, and the Alice Paul House is also open to victims of abuse. The Alice Paul House can be contacted by calling 724-349-4444.
