High crude oil prices are once again being blamed for the high price of gas at the pump not just in Pennsylvania, but across the U.S.
Triple A says the average cost of a gallon of gas in the United States this morning is $3.36 a gallon, which is an increase of four cents from last week, and eight cents over the last month. Experts say that the average remains high because of the high cost of crude oil, which remains at $85.14 a barrel. While total domestic gas stock grew by 1.3 million barrels, demand rose slightly as well from 8.22 million barrels a day to 8.51 million barrels a day.
Pennsylvania’s average remains high as well at $3.53 a gallon as of this morning. It’s one cent higher than last week and virtually unchanged over the last month. Indiana County’s average as of this morning is $3.49 a gallon, which is in the middle for the region. Jefferson County’s average is the lowest among the surrounding counties at $3.40 a gallon. Next is Clearfield at $3.44 a gallon. Westmoreland tied Indiana at $3.49 a gallon, while Armstrong reported a $3.50 a gallon average and Cambria County reported a $3.51 a gallon average.
Chester County reports the highest county-wide average in the state at $3.62 a gallon. Jefferson’s average is the lowest.
Gas prices in Indiana range from $3.46 to $3.49 a gallon this morning, with the lowest in Indiana Borough/White Township area at the EZ Mart on Ben Franklin Road, reporting a $3.46 a gallon average this morning on Gasbuddy.com. Shelocta’s price is $3.52 a gallon. Homer City is reporting $3.45 a gallon this morning. Clymer at $3.47 a gallon and Blairsville running from $3.43 to $3.45 a gallon.
