State police are continuing to investigate a burglary that reportedly happened at a gas station in Armagh. Police say that between 3:15 and 3:25 AM on December 23rd, an un-named 27-year-old Blairsville man went into the One Stop Gas Station on Indiana Street and stole $3,301 and a grey metal lock box. Police said that no force was used in the robbery. This marks the second robbery reported at that location in a month’s time, as police arrested 27-year-old Nicholas Empfield, also of Blairsville, on charges connected with a robbery on January 7th, where he physically assaulted a female employee, causing a cut to the back of her skull. Empfield allegedly took over $1800 from the lottery cash drawer before fleeing. Empfield is currently in Indiana County Jail.
State police have charged a Clarksburg man with assault for an incident on Tuesday. Police say they were dispatched to a home along Saltsburg Road in Young Township for an active domestic situation. When they got there, they found 22-year-old Drake Strong had gone to his home and started drinking alcohol. He then started to demand items from his girlfriend while she was trying to put an infant to bed. Strong became irate at that point and he allegedly pushed her into the wall, causing a cut to the top of her head. He is now in Indiana County Jail facing charges of simple assault and harassment.
