Penguins forward Jake Guentzel will be a member of the NHL All-Star game event in Las Vegas next month. He was selected by fans in the NHL’s “Last Man In” voting, although he finished second behind the New York Rangers’ Mika Zibanejad, who declined the honor. It is Guentzel’s second All-Star selection, but he missed the game in 2020 because of a shoulder injury. Teammate Tristan Jarry is the Penguins’ only other All-Star.
The Penguins have returned to Pittsburgh and the team had the day off yesterday, but three players continued on to Wilkes Barre-Scranton. Anthony Angello, Kasper Bjorkqvist and Filip Hallander were sent down to the top farm team. Forwards Zach Aston-Reese and Danton Heinen and goaltender Casey DeSmith remain on the team’s covid list.
The Penguins play Ottawa tomorrow night at PPG Paints Arena.
