Fire companies were busy on Friday afternoon and evening for fires reported in both northern and southern Indiana County.
The first fire was reported at 4:23 PM along Wynkopp Road in Rayne Township. Indiana County 911 dispatched Marion Center, Clymer, Plumville and Perry Township fire departments along with the HAZMAT team and Citizens Ambulance. When firefighters arrived, they discovered that a 30 by 50 barn/garage was on fire. Teams were on the scene for about three hours as they worked to extinguish the flames. While the cause has not been officially determined, officials with the Marion Center Fire Department believe that the fire was caused by a wood burner. No injuries were reported.
The other major call that was reported by Indiana County 9111 was a reported vehicle fire on Route 22 East in Burrell Township at 5:24 PM, with Black Lick and Blairsville fire departments and State Police dispatched to the scene. After the Black Lick fire chief arrived on the scene, they found out that the fire was in fact just a blown radiator line near Palmer Road.
Indiana Fire Association also investigated an automatic fire alarm that went off on Plaza Road in White Township at 9:49 PM, and Cherry Tree fire department was called out to assist EMT’s in Clearfield County at 11:25 PM. And Iselin fire department was called out to assist with standby detail for Parks Township fire department in Armstrong County.
