Fire crews were on the scene of a fire that destroyed a building in Kittaning early this morning.
Reports say that the call went out at 1:00 for a building in the 1100 block of Orr Avenue. Witnesses said that flames were shooting out of the building by the time fire crews got there. Officials had to eventually pull fire crews out of the building before it collapsed, which it did later on.
Power also went out in the area of the fire as the fire caused a transformer to blow. The fire also damaged some neighboring properties. There are no reported injuries, and the American Red Cross is assisting the families displaced.
No word yet on the cause of the fire. Iselin fire department was called in to standby for Parks Township fire department as they remained on the scene.
