HERITAGE CONFERENCE GIRLS
River Valley scored the first six points of the game, but Penns Manor responded with the next 15 points to close the first quarter, and the Comets continued the defensive pressure in the second quarter, with a 12-5 margin. River Valley rebounded in the second half, but the 16-point deficit was too much for the Panthers to overcome as Penns Manor came away with a 55-47 win.
Freshman Alyssa Altemus led the way for Penns Manor with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Megan Dumm had 11 with 12 boards despite playing in foul trouble. Deja Gillo also scored 11 for the Comets, who were 11 of 13 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Isabel Pynos led River Valley with 15, and Ava Perischetti added 12 and Julia Potts 10.
Molly Kosmack scored 23 points and Macy Sardone had 22 as Homer-Center blasted Cambria Heights, 69-40. The Highlanders were led by Gracey Vinglish, with 10. Marion Center beat West Shamokin on the road, 47-40. Kaelee Elkin scored 18 points and had five steals for the Stingers. Lydia Miller had 13 points and eight steals.
United torched Northern Cambria, 64-9.
Purchase Line stepped out of conference and made the long bus ride to Bald Eagle, where they pounded the Bald Eagles, 67-36. The Red Dragons dominated in the post, with Abby Goss scoring 22 points and Bethany Smith 20. Goss had 11 of her 22 in the fourth quarter. Madison Scalese scored 18 for Purchase Line.
WRESTLING Forest Hills beat United 49-17. United won the Junior High match 64-18
