The Penguins’ West Coast road trip continues tonight in Los Angeles, where they take on the Kings in Jeff Carter’s return to the city where he won two Stanley Cups, in 2012 and 2014.
Carter was traded by the Kings to the Penguins last season. He says it will be a special night for him.
Carter was one of the main reasons the Penguins held up in the beginning of the season when Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were both out. The Penguins are the hottest team in the NHL right now and Carter says if they ever get fully healthy, they’ll be even more formidable.
Carter says he had a lot of fun skating with Malkin when the Pens’ center returned to the lineup Tuesday night after knee surgery last June. He says Malkin is amazing to watch.
The Penguins yesterday continued their almost-daily roster shuffling, recalling forward Drew O’Connor and adding him to the active roster and also calling up 2018 second round draft choice Filip Hallander to the taxi squad. Faceoff for the Penguins and Kings tonight is 10:30. You’ll hear it on 92.5 FM U92 starting with the pregame at 9:30.
