The Pirates and Altoona Curve today announced the Curve’s 2022 coaching staff, which will be led by manager Kieran Mattison, who will be the thirteenth manager in Curve history.
Mattison was elevated from the Bucs’ High-A Greensboro team, and will take over a Curve team stocked with talent from that club.
Drew Benes will be the Curve’s pitching coach for the second straight season and Jon Nunnally returns as the hitting coach. Blake Butler will accompany Mattison from Greensboro as the integrated baseball performance coach, and rounding out the staff is development coach Stephen Morales, who was the Curve’s third base coach and catching coach back in 2018.
The Curve’s season begins on April 8th with the opener of a three-game series against Harrisburg.
