Preliminary hearings are set for today for Indiana County’s district courts, including one for a man charged with assaulting a woman at the Indiana County Courthouse on January 3rd.
Court documents show 22-year-old Anthony Thomas Hockensmith of Johnstown will go before District Judge Robert Bell Sr. Hockensmith is facing misdemeanor charges of simple assault and resisting arrest along with summary charges of harassment and disorderly conduct. Indiana Borough Police reported that he punched a woman in the back of the head while at the courthouse. He also allegedly fought with sheriff’s deputies on scene as he was being taken into custody.
Since the incident, Hockensmith has been in Indiana County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
Also due for preliminary hearings today are:
- 39-year-old Derreck McKenneth of Indiana, who is charged with burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault, terroristic threats, theft and other summary charges for an incident on New Year’s Day.
- 36-year-old Steven Perez III of Coral, who faces charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment for an incident on December 27th of last year.
- 36-year-old Carrie Oldfield of Coral, who is charged with simple assault and harassment for an incident on December 27th of 2021.
