At their meeting Wednesday morning, the Indiana County Commissioners approved an agreement with an attorney to represent them in a lawsuit concerning elections.
The agreement is with Babst Calland out of Pittsburgh and the firm will represent the county in a lawsuit against Indiana and several other counties filed by Judicial Watch, Inc. Solicitor Matt Budash explained why Judicial Watch was filing the lawsuit.
Budash added that he expects that the allegations made will not be supported by the data available.
In other business, the commissioners approved the 2022 tax and revenue anticipation note for $3,305,082, which will cover operating costs for the county until revenues start to come in for this year. The loan is expected to be paid in full by the end of the year.
The commissioners also announced that the courthouse will be closed in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day next Monday, January 17th.
