The Steelers returned to the practice field yesterday to prepare for the final regular season game against Baltimore.
Tackle Dan Moore Jr. and guard Trai Turner both were missing from the workout due to injuries suffered Monday night against Cleveland, and center Kendrick Green was limited.
Six players returned from the Steelers’ covid list but cornerback Joe Haden and defensive coordinator Keith Butler were added to the list. Starting inside linebackers Devin Bush and Joe Schobert, starting defensive lineman Chris Wormley, and nickel back Arthur Maulet returned along with tackle Zach Banner and running back Anthony McFarland.
Ben Roethlisberger was a limited practice participant and met with the media for his usual Wednesday chat. Big Ben said he was grateful for the love and support he and his family received from Steelers fans, ex-teammates, and other well-wishers on Monday night.
When asked about playing in Baltimore over the years, Roethlisberger responded quickly with the most appropriate word he could think of: ”painful.” He says it is always a tough game and not fun to play.
Defensive end Cam Heyward said the Steelers will be challenged by the Ravens’ quarterback, whether it’s former MVP Lamar Jackson – who’s been out with an ankle injury – or Tyler Huntley, who plays a similar style to Jackson.
Heyward yesterday was named winner of “The Chief Award” for cooperation with the media. It’s the third straight year he’s won it. Running back Najee Harris won the Joe Greene Award as the Steelers’ top rookie.
Linebacker TJ Watt was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after his four-sack performance against the Browns on Monday.
