Another person has entered the already-crowded field for the Republican nomination for Pennsylvania Governor.
Reports say that earlier this week, former U.S. Representative Melissa Hart issued a statement confirming her run for Governor. She will have a news conference today in Pittsburgh to further announce her intent to run for the Republican nomination. Hart served in U.S. Congress from 2001 to 2007 and before that, she served as a state senator for ten years. After her time in Congress, she became a lawyer. Hart is a native of McCandless in Allegheny County.
So far, she is the only woman running for the Republican nomination. Others who are running for the nomination include Lou Barletta, Charlie Gerow, Bill McSwain, Jake Corman, Scott Martin, Dave White, Joe Gale, Guy Ciarrochi, and Jason Ritchey.
There are two candidates running for the Democratic nomination. One of them is PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro, and the other is economic equality advocate Tega Swann.
