Indiana Borough Police report an Instagram-based scam that cost a 22-year-old woman thousands of dollars last week.
Police say the woman received an offer last Wednesday from an account pretending to sell “drawings of photos” that she had posted on here Instagram profile. The scammer sent her a fraudulent digital check that eventually bounced, and using the money transfer app Zelle, requested that she pay him for a portion of the so-called sale of her photos. She fell for it, and lost $6,850.
