During Monday’s Indiana Borough Council Meeting, Indiana Borough Council approved their 2022 appointments, including a new Borough Manager.
Nicole Sipos, who had been serving as the acting manager, was promoted to the position full time, filling the vacancy left with the resignation of C. Michael Foote in September. She says she looks forward to improved communication between the borough council and the employees.
In other business, the council approved an agreement between the borough and the Utility Workers Union of America Local 580, ending a two-year period where the union members were working without a contract. The agreement is a five-year deal that started retroactively in 2020. There were no retroactive wage increases, but there will be wage increases by 3.5% in 2022 and 4.5% for 2023.
The agreement comes after the union expressed its frustration with the negotiating process and the bargaining team for the borough was changed to Sipos, Borough Solicitor Pat Dougherty and Council President Peter Broad. Broad said that he felt a sense of relief.
Broad also announced that the next council meeting will be their agenda prep session, which will be January 18th at 7:00 PM
