Today is expected to be one of the busiest days for the holiday travel season, Triple-A says 90% of Americans will travel by car this year for their holiday plans. That means people are keeping an eye on the cost of gasoline, and the average cost of a gallon of gas is going down across the state.
The statewide average cost of a gallon of gas this morning, according to Triple-A, is $3.54 a gallon, a decrease of one cent from last week and five cents from last month. The national average is also falling gradually. The current average cost across the United States is $3.29 a gallon, down two cents from last week and 11 cents from last month.
As of this morning, Indiana County’s average gas price is $3.47 a gallon, making it the lowest county-wide average in the region. Jefferson County has the next highest average at $3.48 a gallon, Armstrong County has a $3.50 a gallon average. That’s followed by Westmoreland County with a $3.52 a gallon average. Clearfield and Cambria Counties tied for the highest regional average at $3.56 a gallon. The lowest county average is Union County at $3.38 a gallon, while the highest is Sullivan County in the north-east at $3.61 a gallon.
Gasbuddy.com reports that as of this morning, gas prices in Indiana Borough and White Township are at $3.54 a gallon. In Clymer, prices are at $3.48 a gallon. Prices in Homer City are at $3.29 a gallon, and Blairsville’s gas price is currently the cheapest in the county at $3.11 a gallon.
