At a brief meeting Tuesday night, Homer City Borough Council approved the 2022 budget.
The budget contains no tax increase for borough residents. The property tax rate remains at 3.671 mils with a streetlight tax of 0.132 mils. The main reason for the delay in the budget process, according to Borough Council President Kenneth “Cal” Cecconi, was because further discussion was needed concerning a vehicle for the police department. The decision was made to get a used vehicle instead of a new vehicle for the police department. Cecconi did give an update on the search for a police car.
The budget balanced at $638,572, and marks the third year running that the budget did not include a tax increase.
