Coach Mike Tomlin says the extra rest between last Thursday’s loss to Minnesota and this Sunday’s game against Tennessee has allowed the Steelers’ injured players to heal up, and all of them are at least possibilities to be on the field this week.
That includes outside linebackers TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith, inside ‘backer Robert Spillane, and cornerback Joe Haden. Defensive lineman Carlos Davis and Isaiah Buggs are also expected on the practice field today, along with offensive linemen JC Hassenauer and Joe Haeg.
Against the 9-4 Titans, Tomlin says he needs all the bodies he can get, so the injured players’ return will be welcome.
Tomlin also talked yesterday about his young players’ need to grow up. He said antics like those of wide receiver Chase Claypool, who decided to strike a first down pose as time was running out in the frantic final seconds of last Thursday’s game, was one of several missteps. He said Claypool’s maturation “can’t happen fast enough” for both him and the team.
