The Pittsburgh Penguins finished their five game roadtrip with a big win over the Washington Capitals 4-2 last night. Danton Heinen got the first goal of the night for the Pens, his 8th of the season at the 16:16 mark of the first period. Brock McGinn and Kasperi Kappenen had goals in the second period. The Capitals tried to mount a comeback in the third period, with goals from Evgeny Kuznetsov and Lars Eller, but the Pens Jeff Carter got his 8th of the season late in the third.
Kasperi Kappenen earlier in the week described his recent play as “terrible”, but last night, he scored the eventual game-winner and was promoted to the top line to take over for the injured Jake Guentzel. Head Coach Mike Sullivan says that he saw a lot of improvement last night.
No rest for the Pens, as they host the Anaheim Ducks tonight. The pre-game show starts at 6:00 on U-92.5 FM.
