The River Valley School Board held its reorganization meeting Tuesday night.
Along with the swearing in of new members to the school board, the board also held elections for board president and vice president. By a vote of 7-2, Rick Harper was re-elected as the board president, with Beverly Carnese and Melanie Cribbs Pantalone voting against Harper’s appointment. Molly Stiles was elected as the board vice president by a unanimous vote.
In other business, the board approved funding for the Evergreen After-School Program from January 4th to May 31st of next year. During public comment, Jenny Graff Walker of the Evergreen After-School Program talked about the program’s importance.
The original funding was not to exceed $90,000, but the board extended the funding amount to $102,000 to cover programs at the middle and elementary school levels.
