On Monday night, the Indiana Area School Board voted to approve a memorandum of understanding between the district and the Indiana Area Education Association concerning dual enrollment.
Director of Education Robert Heinrich called the agreement important because it guarantees students to receive high school credit by taking college level courses at any of the colleges that the school has an agreement with. Students will also receive college credits for the class. Heinrich said that this will also make sure that there will not be any staffing shortages due to students taking the college level classes.
Heinrich also said he wanted to thank the Indiana Area Education Association for their work on this agreement.
In other business, the board approved a substitute incentive package that will give substitutes that 10 or more days a month an incentive of $150 a month. Another incentive is set to be approved at the next meeting, which will give substitutes that work 5 to 9 days in a month an incentive of $50 a month.
The board also approved a proposal from C.E. Davis of Ford City for the replacement of the East Pike Roof. The roof has not been replaced in 20 years.
