Starting today, parts of Indiana County and surrounding areas could feel the impacts of a surge of thunderstorms brought on by Tropical Storm Fred.
The storms, appropriately named Tropical Rainstorm Fred, were spotted approximately 260 miles from State College shortly after 5:15 this morning and Accuweather says the storms could produce wind gusts of upwards to 45 miles per hour.
The rainfall produced from these storms could produce flash flooding in some spots, however those exact spots have not been determined yet.
Accuweather meteorologist Jason Nicholls said that the rainstorm may head more towards the western part of Pennsylvania, but it won’t miss Indiana County.
Nicholls also said that when encountering flooded areas, it’s best to stay away from them.
Indiana County is under a flash flood watch until 8 o’clock this evening. Your Hometown Radio Stations will have up-to-date weather forecasts every hour on all four of our radio stations.
