The average cost of a gallon of gas continues to increase not just in Indiana county, but across the state.
As of this morning, the average cost of a gallon of gas in Pennsylvania is $3.25 a gallon. That’s up three cents from last week and seven cents from last month. The state gas price average last year at this time was still at $2.43 due to a lack of demand during the pandemic. Right now, the national gas price average is $3.16 a gallon, also an increase of about two cents from last week. Triple-A says that the average is increasing at a slower pace as demand for gas is going down. In fact, last week at this time, the demand for gas was at an all-time high of 10.04 million barrels. That demand went down slightly to 9.28 million barrels. Also, supplies have also increased by one million barrels. But with oil prices remaining at the $70 a barrel level, prices at the pump are expected to remain high.
Indiana County’s average went up accordingly to $3.28 a gallon. Comparing it with surrounding counties, Indiana is right in the middle of the pack. The lowest average is tied between Clearfield and Armstrong Counties at $3.26 a gallon. Westmoreland County’s average is slightly lower than Indiana’s at $3.27 a gallon. Cambria county’s average is at $3.29 a gallon, while the highest average in the region is Jefferson County’s at $3.31 a gallon. The highest average in the state is Crawford County in the Northwest corner of the state at $3.35 a gallon. Wyoming county in the north east has the lowest average at $3.17 a gallon.
Gasbuddy.com reports this morning that most gas stations in Indiana are at $3.29 a gallon, with the exception of the Keystone station on Old Route 119, which is offering gas at $3.25 a gallon. Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer gas stations are all reporting $3.29 a gallon prices.
