The Board of Governors of the State System of Higher Education has scheduled a public meeting for this Wednesday to discuss the plan to integrate six universities into two.
Three universities in western Pennsylvania and three in the eastern half of the state would be combined. In the west, Clarion, California, and Edinboro would merge while in the east, it would be Lock Haven, Mansfield, and Bloomsburg. The plan preserves each university’s athletic teams, although that aspect of it must be approved by the NCAA.
Wednesday’s meeting will be conducted remotely and webcast on the State System’s website.
