After a two-day break, the Penguins set off to Boston to take on the Bruins tonight to kick off a seven-game road-trip.
Tristan Jarry will not start in the net for game one, as head coach Mike Sullivan said that he’s still being evaluated for an upper-body injury. With Jarry out, Casey DeSmith appears to be the starter for Thursday’s contest, and Sullivan said that he’s developed into a polished goaltender.
The Penguins will also be without Teddy Blueger, who skated in a no-contact jersey with the taxi squad on Wednesday. Evgeni Malkin and Kasperi Kapanen did not skate in Wednesday’s practice as they continue to recover from their injuries. Brandon Tanev did practice in full on Wednesday and Sullivan expects him to be ready for the game.
Sullivan said that Boston works well in both Power Play opportunities and on face-offs, so the Pens need to be ready for that.
He also said that it all comes down to continuing to implement simplicity on the ice.
Airtime on U92.5 FM and the U92 Sports Channel is 6 p.m.
