Indiana Area School District Superintendent Michael Vuckovich is encouraging parents interest in the district’s new free summer program for elementary students to register their children.
On Indiana In the Morning on WCCS yesterday, Vuckovich praised the school board for committing $250,000 for the free program for students in grades K through five.
Vuckovich said parents can access the sign-up form online. He said the summer sessions will be for all students…those whose learning has been affected by the covid pandemic and those students who are just eager to learn.
Vuckovich said the registration form was posted earlier this week and more than a hundred parents had signed up their children already.
There will be two sessions of the summer program, running from June 7th to the 24th and from July 26th to August 12th. Families can sign up for one of both sessions. The summer camp will operate Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM each week, with free breakfast, lunch, and transportation provided. Vuckovich says families that wish to enroll their children in the district’s summer camp and also the YMCA Summer Camp can do so, and the district will provide the transportation to and from the YMCA program if necessary.
More information on the Indiana Area School District Summer Camp is available at the district website, iasd.cc.
