The Penguins face the Philadelphia Flyers tonight for game two of a three-game home series, with Sidney Crosby missing practice again yesterday due to covid-19 protocols, but with three injured players back on the ice and with no apparent restrictions.
Defenseman Brian Dumoulin, forward Evan Rodrigues, and center Mark Jankowski appear ready to return to the lineup. The problem for coach Mike Sullivan is dealing with a surplus of bodies. With so many players injured and roster moves to fill their spots bringing in new guys, Sullivan has to juggle his lineup.
The coach gets one of his best defensemen back in Brian Dumoulin, who brings a different dimension to the blue line. Sullivan likes getting the steady Dumoulin back in uniform.
Sullivan says all of the healthy bodies in Penguins uniforms will make for some good competition for ice time.
The Penguins assigned forwards Anthony Angello, Drew O’Connor, and Josh Currie to the taxi squad and sent Frederick Gaudreau back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Forward Jason Zucker was transferred to the long-term injured reserve list.
