An Indiana County man facing charges in six upcoming trials is now charged with aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass, theft and related crimes for an incident in Scottdale in Westmoreland County where he was apprehended with the help of a veteran and his dog.
The Tribune-Review reports that 30-year-old Corey Matthew Pandullo, who is listed as having addresses in Indiana and Blairsville, was apprehended Wednesday after he tried to break into several homes near Loucks Avenue and Mulberry Street. It started around 8:00 Wednesday Morning when resident Richard Grabiak left his garage door open as he went to a nearby convenience store for a cup of coffee. When he came back, he found Pandullo in the garage. Grabiak grabbed a garden tool to hold him at bay. A Scottdale officer tried to restrain Pandullo, but he shoved the officer and took off towards the back of the house. The officer had cuts to his hand and knee and his elbow and forearm were also injured.
Pandullo later backtracked to Grabiak’s garage to steal an SUV inside of it, but he wrecked it by backing it over an embankment in a neighbor’s yard. Police say that he then tried to steal a motorcycle off the back porch of 31-year-old Marine Corps veteran Edward Swingle. Swingle confronted Pandullo and sicced his German Shepherd puppy Keeper on him. Keeper had Pandullo by the pant leg, but he eventually got away. Swingle retrieved his handgun and caught up with him, holding him on a neighbor’s porch until more police arrived.
Pandullo is also charged with trying to break into an apartment in the 1100 block of Philadelphia Street on January 25th, and had been free on $10,000 bail, but that bail has since been revoked. He also faces drug-related charges and other crimes in two other cases that are currently awaiting their preliminary hearing. He has criminal call hearings set for three other cases in Indiana County. Right now, Pandullo is in Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $25,000 bail A preliminary hearing in Westmoreland County Court is set for March 3rd.
