On Monday, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced 37 colleges and universities across the state will receive grant money from the “It’s On Us PA” program, and that includes IUP.
The program is meant to help combat campus sexual assault. The grants provide funding from January of this year to May of 2022 to implement strategies on campuses to address the program’s goals, including improving awareness, prevention, reporting and response systems regarding sexual violence in schools; remove and reduce barriers that prevent sexual assault survivors from reporting and/or accessing vital resources; and demonstrate significant, proactive and sustainable leadership to change campus culture.
IUP received the maximum grant amount of $30,000. The money will be used by IUP to expand the Green Dot bystander curriculum, specifically within the LGBTQIA community to address goals of improving awareness while building upon prevention work. The money will also be used to expand the “Break the Silence” campaign that focuses on Governor Wolf’s safety initiatives regarding anonymous reporting and protection from sanctions for reporting sexual violence.
