UPDATE: The preliminary hearing for Warren W. Miller was continued this morning at the request of his attorney Geoffrey Kugler. According to a representative of Kugler, he requested the continuance as he wanted his client there in person instead of participating over a Zoom video chat. No word yet on when the preliminary hearing will be held.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
A man charged with vehicular homicide and related crimes for an incident in October of last year will have a preliminary hearing today in front of District Judge Christopher Welch.
A hearing is set for 9:00 this morning for 41-year-old Warren W. Miller of Hastings for a vehicle crash on October 12th, 2020 on Route 286 near Hickory Lane in Green Township. Police at the time said that Miller’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car driven by 30-year-old Christopher Ortman. The car behind Ortman was also involved in the collision. Ortman was flown from the scene to IRMC where he later went into cardiac arrest and died.
Miller has been in Indiana County Jail since December 22nd on $100,000 bail. On top of vehicular homicide, Miller is charged with two DUI offenses, possession of a controlled substance, use of drug paraphernalia, and summary charges of careless driving-unintentional death, reckless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.
