A longtime member of Clymer Borough Council and a man who served in the army in World War II passed away earlier this week.
Joseph Krolick, Sr. passed away at the age of 99 at the Communities at Indian Haven on Tuesday, December 1st. Born in Grassflat in Clearfield County, Krolick served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. After his time in the Army, Krolick worked at McCreary Tire before starting a career of public service. He was a truant officer for four years, a constable for 17 years, Clymer’s police chief for eight years, the mayor of Clymer for 12 years, the commander of the Clymer American Legion Post 222 for two years, and for many years, he was a member of Clymer Borough Council. He remained a councilman up until his death.
Rob Barto, Clymer Borough’s longtime manager, said he remembered Krolick when he was a child and Krolick was a part of the borough police. He said that Krolick knew everyone in the borough and always kept an eye out for the kids, something that Barto knew from personal experience.
