A train derailment from a railroad bridge collapse is causing some traffic tie-ups Wednesday morning in the Green Township/Cherryhill Township area.
Indiana County 911 initially reported the incident at 8:59 this morning as a vehicle accident near Starford Road, with initial scanner reports saying a train had derailed. State police say that the train derailment was due to a bridge collapse near the intersection of Wandin and Starford Roads, causing a spill of coal that was being carried in those cars.
No injuries were reported. State police are assisting Commodore Firefighters and railroad authorities with traffic control. Wandin Road/Pine Flats road is closed between Starford Road and Cookport Road. It’s not known when the area will reopen to traffic.
