On Friday, the winner of the Ben Franklin Big Idea contest was announced, and an Indiana County group won $50,000.
The winner of the contest was Sarah Boyer and Antria of Indiana County for their pitch to develop stem cell therapies to provide patients with personalized care to help with wound care. Boyer and her team received $50,000 to help with big idea after going through the preliminary selection process and then making the big pitch to six independent judges in an online conference on Thursday.
The contest also awarded an “Audience Choice” award to Clearfield County’s Neonatal Loving Kare and Nicole Sawyers, who are developing a patented FDA neonatal positioning device.
Mark Hilliard, Indiana Chamber of Commerce President, said in a news release that it was encouraging to see entrepreneurship alive and well, and added that “If the contest is any indication, the future of small business and entrepreneurship in this region is looking bright.”
The contest is run by Ben Franklin Technology Partners, one of the nation’s longest-running tech-based economic development programs.
