State police have issued reports on three accidents on Indiana County roadways, including one yesterday morning on Route 403 in Buffington Township.
Police say 68-year-old William Stein of Latrobe told them he failed to stop at the stop sign on 403 and collided with a pickup driven by 45-year-old William Mardis of Vintondale, who was entering the highway from Rexis Road. Stein’s car spun 180 degrees and slid backwards onto Hagens Road. Mardis’s pickup sheared off a utility pole and came to rest on 403. No one was injured.
The other two crashes both happened minutes before 2:30 Friday afternoon, one in Center Township and the other in East Mahoning Township. Police say 28-year-old Scott Lute of Clymer was driving on Route 210 in East Mahoning Township north of Whitaker Road when he saw a white car in his lane, passing a horse and buggy. Lute swerved his pickup to the right to avoid a collision and struck several fence posts before ending up in a field. The other driver continued on and is unidentified.
In the other crash, a 16-year-old boy from Coral hit a bump on Old Route 119 in Center Township and police say he panicked, overcompensating as he tried to straighten out his vehicle, which swerved into an embankment and rolled over.
No one was injured in either accident.
