Indiana County Commissioners earlier today approved several motions to make progress towards the construction of the future home of the county’s Conservation District office, Westmoreland County Community College and the Challenger Learning Center.
The two facilities will be located on land near the Indiana County Technology Center. Among the approvals made for the Indiana County Education and Technology Center are accepting a federal grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission for $350,000, agreements with Stiffler McGraw and Desmone Architects for engineering and designs, an engineering services agreement with Young and Associates for the WCCC and Challenger Learning Center, a storm water management agreement for the conservation district office and a natural gas line relocation project.
Byron Stauffer of the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development said that when completed, the new facility will pay dividends.
In other business, the commissioners approved an agreement with Comast to provide broadband service to three underserved areas in the county. Those areas are Nehrig Road and the Route 286 Corridor in Center Township and Shellbark Road in Armagh.
