State police say a Seward man who escaped police custody in late August was apprehended by police in Cambria County yesterday.
44-year-old Michael Paul Boring of Seward had escaped police custody on August 29th while he was being taken to Westmoreland County Prison by Seward Police. Troopers say that he was taken into custody initially for multiple arrest warrants for drug possession and fleeing police on August 24th and for criminal trespass, conspiracy to that charge, and retail theft on May 17th. During the drive, he told police he felt like he was going to throw up, so police let him out of the car. He then ran away, still handcuffed, and police were not able to find him after that.
On Sunday, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Cambria County Sheriff’s office notified state police in Ebensburg of a possible location where Boring could be found. State police along with the fugitive task force and Cambria Township Police went to the Martin General Store on Admiral Peary Highway in Cambria Township and found Boring inside the store. He was taken into custody without incident.
With Boring was an unnamed 36-year-old Seward woman. She will be charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution.
State Police want to thank the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, the Cambria County Sheriff’s office, Cambria Township Police and members of the public and news media for their assistance.
