Indiana County now has a second voice on the state’s PENNVEST board, with the appointment by House Speaker of Representative Jim Struzzi yesterday to replace representative Donna Oberlander, who vacated the seat when she was appointed majority whip for the House Republican Caucus. Struzzi’s term on the board is for the remainder of the 2019-2020 legislative session.
Senator Joe Pittman is also on the PENNVEST board. Noting that PENNVEST gives low-cost financial assistance for sewer, drinking water and storm water systems and helps clean rivers and streams of pollution, Struzzi said the position on the board gives him the “opportunity to ensure proper funding for the 62nd legislative district, the southwest region, and the commonwealth as a whole.”
PENNVEST, the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, was created in 1998. Retired Senator Don White was a longtime member of the PENNVEST board.
