With the start of the school year for students in the Indiana, Blairsville-Saltsburg, and Purchase Line school districts today, all of the Indiana County-based districts are in class, in one form or another.
As in the other districts in the county, Indiana, Blairsville-Saltsburg, and Purchase Line have designed different educational options for in-person or online instruction utilizing either a hybrid model or all online, through their own efforts or their charter school affiliations.
In a letter to parents on Friday, Indiana Area Superintendent Michael Vuckovich expressed a sentiment that his fellow administrators across the county would surely echo, writing “There will be small problems or issues to work through, but we ask only for your patience, understanding, and the trust that we have the best interests of your children at the heart of every decision, and with that, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.”
Vuckovich reminded parents that the learning model for the start of this school year is quite different from that on which the district ended the last term in June. Specifically, he wrote, state regulations require that “…daily student attendance is required, grades will be earned, and standardized tests will be administered. School will be as ‘back to normal’ as possible.”
Students are reminded to be wearing their masks when they get on their buses and arrive at their school.
