On Tuesday night, Indiana Borough Council voted to table a proposed ordinance to enforce state mandates over face coverings during the Coronavirus crisis.
The vote to table was 7-5, with council members Ben Ford, Don Lancaster, Jim McQuown, Betsy Sarneso, Gerald Smith, Sara Steelman and Poom Taylor voting in favor of tabling the issue. Smith said that one of the reasons why he wanted to table the ordinance was that he received some new information concerning enforcement.
Smith said that the Together Indiana campaign has been growing and they are seeing a lot of collaborative efforts.
As the ordinance is tabled, it could be brought back up for discussion at a future meeting, but if there are proposed changes to the ordinance, the borough would have to re-advertise the ordinance before it could be approved.
