State police have identified the escaped fugitive who fled into the woods after faking an illness on Saturday in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County, and they believe he may have stolen an unattended black Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Trooper Clifford Greenfield says the suspect is 45-year-old Michael Paul Boring of Seward, who was being transported to the Westmoreland County Prison by Seward Police after he was taken into custody for multiple arrest warrants, including warrants for drug possession and fleeing police on August 24th and for conspiracy, criminal trespass, and retail theft on May 17th in Murrysville. Boring has a long criminal rap sheet dating as far back as 1998 in Westmoreland, Indiana, Cambria, and Venango counties.
Boring told the police officers he was about to vomit, so they let him out of the car to throw up, but he ran, still in handcuffs, and despite closing off a section of Route 711 and canvassing the area, he could not be found. Greenfield says he may have returned to the Seward area.
Boring is white, about 5-feet-10-inches tall, about 200 pounds, with blue eyes and gray hair. After Saturday’s escape, he is now charged with aggravated assault, escape, resisting arrest and theft.
Anyone who knows Boring’s whereabouts is urged to call 911.
