Indiana County Judge Thomas Bianco has scheduled sentencing for 35-year-old James Eugene Brown in October, for Brown’s guilty pleas to homicide by vehicle, DUI controlled substance, and driving while his blood-alcohol content was .02 percent or higher.
Brown pleaded guilty in Plea Court on July 24th. He was at the wheel of a car that crashed into Pikel’s Top Tier Fuels in Home on July 5th, 2018, running over a gas pump and smashing into a building. The car and building burst into flames, trapping and killing 52-year-old Melissa Myers of Commodore, who was working at the gas station.
In addition to being sentenced on October 9th for that case, Brown will be sentenced the same day for a separate guilty plea to receiving stolen property, in May of 2018. And he has formal arraignments scheduled next month in three new cases, for theft-related charges committed in June of this year.
