After a lengthy period of drought-like conditions in the area, severe weather not only provided Indiana County with some much needed precipitation, but it also gave area fire crews a busy schedule yesterday afternoon.
According to Indiana County 911, eleven calls regarding downed utility lines and trees were reported between 2:50 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.
The first call came at 2:50 p.m., where Iselin and West Lebanon, along with Coal Run fire crews were called to Coleman Road in Young Township, where clean-up lasted more than a half hour. Iselin and Lebanon would respond to another downed tree in along Bendis Road in Young Township later on.
Black Lick fire crews responded to four calls from 2:50 p.m. to 5:08, three pertained to downed utility lines along Blacklick Township and Burrell Township.
Coal Run/McIntyre crews responded to three calls; Blairsville and Clyde fire crews responded to two calls each; and crews from Aultman and Coral-Graceton had the least amount of calls on the day with one each.
