The Marion Center School District released updated information for the 2020-2021 school year Thursday evening.
In a Facebook post, Superintendent Clint Weimer addressed new updates to the district’s COVID-19 mask policy. Weimer said that as of August 17, students are required to wear a face covering, whether cloth or face shield, while in school, regardless of social distancing. This was not included in the original plan, and Weimer added that district faculty and staff members will work with students and families to make wearing face coverings for extended periods of time as easy and as positive as possible.
Students will be permitted to take 10-minute mask breaks throughout the day.
Weimer also added that the plan for a 50 percent staggered start will continue as planned to help Indiana County remain within a “moderate” level of risk. In addition, following an assessment of this risk by the PA Department of Health and Education will call for a reduction in students on campus to allow for social distancing.
Weimer concludes that students and parents can call (724) 397-5551 ext. 5000 for any questions or concerns with the updated guidance protocol.
