Before classes get underway on Monday, IUP released an updated operations procedure so students can not only feel safe in the classroom, but also while interacting around campus as well.
According to the update that was posted on IUP’s website, it says that while no positive cases of COVID-19 among cases have been reported, rules and procedures are in place to protect the health and safety of students. One rule is that face coverings are required by all employees, students and visitors while on buildings or in vehicles owned and leased by IUP, unless there are pre-existing health conditions that prevent usage. Accommodations for face coverings can be made through IUP’s Department for Disability Access and Advising.
Another part says that safety kits, that include hand sanitizer, washable face coverings, facial tissues and more supplies, are available and free to students. Students living on-campus can pick up their kits during their assigned move-in times, and those living off campus can pick up kits at Folger Hall starting today, August 22 to Tuesday, August 25 from 1 to 7 p.m.
Lastly, the update gave details on two on-campus buildings. The IUP Libraries will remain open, however Java City will be closed. And the Counseling Center will offer telehealth appointments over the semester. Hours of operation will remain the same as last year, however walk-in appointments will not be accepted.
